Pelvic Organ Prolapse
Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) occurs when the muscles and tissues that support the pelvic organs weaken and can no longer hold them in place. This causes the organs to drop and can affect the bladder, bowel, or uterus.
There are some risk factors for this, including:
• Childbirth: Vaginal childbirth can strain the pelvic floor, and the risk increases with each delivery. A C-section may reduce the risk.
• Aging: As women age, the supporting structures in the pelvis weaken.
• Menopause: Loss of estrogen during and after menopause can increase the risk.
• Heavy lifting: Jobs that require a lot of heavy lifting can increase the risk.
• Other health conditions: Chronic coughing, constipation, or obesity can increase pressure on the pelvic floor.
• Family History
Roonak will review the possible risk factors and provide the best solution based on your condition and personal preferences.
