Pregnancy Care

Pregnancy Care

Pregnancy care, also known as prenatal or antenatal care, is a type of preventive healthcare that includes medical checkups and lifestyle recommendations. The Australian Pregnancy Care Guidelines recommend that a woman have her first antenatal visit within the first 10 weeks of pregnancy. You must see your GP for initial tests and an ultrasound when you learn about your pregnancy. At this stage, you may decide whether to continue your pregnancy.

Your GP will refer you to a public hospital, maternity shared care with a GP or specialist, midwifery group practice or private obstetrician based on your decision. By choosing a private obstetrician, you will have continuity of care from the first visit to the end of pregnancy and 6 weeks postpartum and the opportunity to access your doctor when you have a concern or in case of unexpected events.
Contact us, and we will make an appointment for you. Before your appointment, you will receive a registration form and questionnaire.
